Storage Punters - Refund Policy
This Refund Policy is an integral part of our User Agreement. By participating in any auction on the Storage Punters Platform, you agree to these terms. Please read this document carefully before placing a bid.
1. Our Role as a Platform
Storage Punters operates as a digital venue that connects Sellers of storage unit contents with registered Bidders. Our business is to provide the technology and framework for these auctions to take place. We are not the owner of the goods listed, nor are we a party to the direct sale between the Seller and the successful Bidder.
2. Conditions of Sale - "As Is, Where Is"
All auctions conducted on our Platform are for goods sold on an "as is, where is" basis. This means that items are sold in their current state, with all existing faults, whether visible or not. The responsibility for inspecting items and assessing their condition, value, and suitability lies entirely with the Bidder.
Due to the nature of these auctions (often involving second-hand or abandoned property), all sales are considered final, and are non-refundable.
3. No Refunds or Returns
As a general rule, Storage Punters does not facilitate refunds, returns, or exchanges. Once an auction is finalised and the winning Bidder has paid for the items, the sale is binding.
Bidders are not entitled to a refund or to return the goods if they are found to be faulty, damaged, or not fit for purpose after the sale is complete.
4. Rights Under Australian Consumer Law
While the "as is" nature of our auctions limits a buyer's rights, you may still be entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law in specific circumstances. You may have grounds for a claim if the goods sold to you:
- Were advertised with a misleading description or had material details hidden from you.
- Did not come with a clear title of ownership (i.e., they were stolen).
Any claim of this nature must be directed to the Seller. Storage Punters is not responsible for the accuracy of seller descriptions or the ownership status of the goods.
5. Resolving Disputes
If you encounter an issue with your purchase, the first step is to contact the Seller directly to explain the problem and seek a resolution. We strongly encourage communication between parties to resolve any issues.
As Storage Punters is not directly involved in the sale process, we do not act as a mediator for disputes between Bidders and Sellers. While you can report an issue to our support team, our involvement is limited to encouraging dialogue and ensuring compliance with the Platform’s terms.
6. Due Diligence
To protect yourself, we strongly advise all Bidders to exercise due diligence before placing a bid. This includes:
- Reading the full auction description and any specific terms provided by the Seller.
- Inspecting the goods in person if at all possible.
- Keeping detailed records of the auction listing, photographs, and all communication with the Seller.
By bidding, you acknowledge and accept these conditions, including the inherent risks associated with purchasing goods in an auction environment.
